Designer. Artist. Adventurer.

My name is Chad W. Tyler and I am an award-winning Exhibition Designer based in Baltimore, Maryland.

My adventures began in the search for unexpected and overlooked contexts for landscape architecture through explorations in scenic design, choreography, and exhibitions in Paris, France as an Edward L. Ryerson Fellow. It was here that my love affair with museums began. After my fellowship money ran out, I moved to Chicago with the hope of a career designing museum experiences and was invited to join the talented team of artists and fabricators at the Field Museum of Natural History as a specialist in the design and production of landscape dioramas.

After the successful completion of many dioramas for three major permanent exhibitions, I was asked to join the John G. Shedd Aquarium’s Oceanarium redevelopment team where I oversaw the design and construction of the Pacific Northwest landscape replications and played a lead role in the design and construction of the Polar Play Zone children’s exhibition.

My design work was put on a brief pause while I literally rode out the Great Recession by bicycle from SW Poland to Istanbul before moving to Baltimore to be the in-house exhibit designer at the National Aquarium.  In my five years there, I was the lead designer in the Department of Exhibits and Design taking multiple projects end-to-end, including the Living Seashore Gallery, winner of the AAM Award of Excellence in Exhibits, and the AZA Top Honors award.

Shortly afterward the substantial completion of Living Seashores, I shifted gears over to the private sector to be Senior Exhibit Designer at Quatrefoil Associates where I led the design of over a dozen different projects ranging in budgets from $100k to $3.5m.

Five years later, and into another massive recession, I am launching the next chapter of my career... Stay Safe and Stay Tuned!!!!!
